LOYD VAN HORN TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM, ESCAPE
6.15.2018

CHARLESTON, SC -- Local singer/songwriter, Loyd Van Horn, has announced the release of his third album, Escape, to be released Friday, June 15, 2018.

Written over the past 12 months, Loyd explores the inner need to get away.

"From life, from a job, from people that only bring negativity to your life, even the current political climate in this country," says Loyd.   "There is a lot out there to feel you need to escape from, so this album took a look at that."

"When I set out to write the album, I wasn't trying to write to a concept, actually.  I did that with my first album, Daydreams From a Modern Life and this time I wanted to branch out and let the music take control of the direction.  It just so happened that my first song I wrote for the album was called Escape, and then all of these emotions and frustrations started bubbling up and I realized all of it was coming from this feeling of a need to get away from these obstacles that were in front of me."

Drawing on nearly every musical influence in his song catalog, Loyd is able to explore a multitude of emotions, sometimes even within a single song.

"One thing though that I tried to do was remain as positive as I could, even on the angrier songs. I did still leave an angry song or two in there, because anger is a significant emotional spark that causes us to feel the need to get away.  But with how our society is treating each other right now, I just felt like I needed to keep things upbeat.  I wanted to say something new, say something that was hopeful and promising instead of the constant finger pointing and endless bickering."

Escape will be available on most major online music retail stores, as well as on CD format through CD Baby and for direct purchase from Loyd at this live performances.

You can hear acoustic versions of these songs now, at Loyd's shows around the Charleston area.  Click on the 'Shows" link to see when and were he is playing near you!

LOYD VAN HORN RETURNS TO AWENDAW GREEN
5.30.2018

AWENDAW, SC - As he prepares to release his third album, Escape, on June 15, 2018, Charleston singer/songwriter Loyd Van Horn returns for his third performance at Awendaw Green in Awendaw, SC.

"The last time I was there, last summer, was amazing," says Loyd.  "It is always a special feeling when you get to play for people that are actively engaged and looking for new music.  This is the premiere songwriter showcase in the Lowcountry for a reason, Eddie White has cultivated something truly special there.  It is just an honor to be able to be on that stage again."

Loyd will be performing acoustic versions of the songs from his newest album, Escape, which will be available online and in CD format on June 15th.

"I wrote almost every one of these songs on an acoustic guitar, so they translate very well to a solo performance."
